Our Purpose …
The purpose of this club is to aid in and encourage the restoration, maintenance and enjoyment of cars and trucks, regardless of make or model. We support the heritage of Studebaker and Avanti vehicles while emphasizing education, improving member communication, and extending fellowship among our members as we preserve automotive history.
Individual Club membership includes all immediate family members and is open to all enthusiasts of cars and trucks with or without modifications.
Middle Tennessee Studebaker Drivers Club Chapter is recognized by the IRS as a non-profit / educational organization.
How We Began …
The Middle Tennessee Studebaker Drivers Club applied for and received chapter approval from the “National” Studebaker Drivers Club in South Bend, Indiana on April 18, 1975. This chapter was established under bylaws that determine how the chapter engages with members, fills staffing positions and maintains the prerequisite that all local chapter members also hold membership in the National Studebaker Drivers Club. This partnership provides liability insurance (personal and property) for our members during chapter events. National Studebaker Drivers Club membership may also include the monthly Studebaker/Avanti magazine “Turning Wheels”.
In 1992, the Middle Tennessee chapter hosted the International Convention known as “The 28th International Meet” and in 2014 hosted “The 46th Southeast Zone Meet” in Nashville.
For many years, membership news and communication was provided through the chapter newsletter the Studeflyer. More recently the club established and maintains a website, www.mtsdc.org. This website is now the club’s main source of club information providing the current year’s Event Calendar, Chapter History, Membership Application, Staff List, Contact Request Form and Chapter Photos.
With membership now at 170+ individuals, the chapter continues to grow by focusing on monthly events as opportunities to extend fellowship and provide a family-friendly atmosphere for all car and truck enthusiasts.
